Our Mission

Sharks have received a bad rep over the years for being these man eating predators. This panic that revolves around these animals comes from misinformation & inaccurate media portrayal. Our mission is to educate & spread less fear all while becoming connected and inspired by sharks. As humans, we have an obligation to care for our oceans & the animals that live in it; as the two will always coexist.

We have partnered with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, a non-profit research organization located in Chatham MA. From our Great White Shark Collection, 10% of gross profits gets donated to AWSC.

WHY ARE SHARKS IMPORTANT?

Sharks play a key role in keeping our complex ocean's ecosystem balanced. They do this by maintaining the species they prey on at a healthy number. Sharks also play an important role in regulating oxygen production in the ocean. Sharks feed on fish that consume oxygen generating plankton which will result in having clean air for us to breathe.

Sharks also remove any disease or sickness from the ocean by hunting on weak and sick animals. This makes certain that the fish population stays healthy and at a size that the habitat's resources can maintain. If the fish population heightens out of control because nothing is eating them, this results in their food (plankton, microorganisms, little shrimp, etc) to go away. The fish will starve. Algae and bacteria will inhabit the coral reefs, covering the coral so it is unable to photosynthesize causing the reef to die. As you can see this can cause a massive domino effect.

 WHAT IF SHARKS WENT EXTINCT?

Sharks have been in our oceans for more than 400 million years with about 500 known species around the world and likely more to be discovered. About 25% of all shark, skate & ray species are threatened with extinction. Since sharks do not have many pups which don't mature quickly, their numbers can not restore fast enough to keep up with the loss of commercial fishing. With the extinction of sharks comes diminishing coral reefs, seagrass beds and commercial fisheries.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP SAVE SHARKS?

  1. Look for small businesses (like us) & companies that have products that give back! Not only do you get to have one of a kind merchandise but you also become part of such an amazing cause.
  2. Learn as much as you can about sharks, their habitat and behavior.
  3. Do not use any shark products. Cartilage and oils are found in many beauty and health products. Squalene, one of the main components of the shark's liver oil, is mostly used in beauty products. Be sure to read the ingredient list before hand.
  4. Reduce, reuse and recycle. Sharks can confuse garbage with food. Plastic can also be consumed by other marine animals that the shark eats.
  5. Donate and volunteer to shark conservation organizations.
  6. Speak out when you see abuse or misinformation. Help educate others when you can and spread awareness instead of fear. Use any social media platform as it is the most powerful tool for us to use.
  7. Go diving with sharks. What better way to learn about sharks than to swim/dive with them. There are many business around the world you can have this experience with.
